Successful Euro CanTech Forum event

#12.05.2016 Successful Euro CanTech Forum event

Another month, another great event to present our industry, and discuss the circular economy and the way forward for steel for packaging.

Euro CanTechLast month was the Euro CanTech Forum (www.euro-cantech.com) in Berlin which brought together some of the top thinkers and professionals from across the global metal packaging industry.

I represented APEAL on the Candid Forum alongside Ball’s Colin Gillis, Hindustan Tin Works’ Atit Bhatia and Can-Pack Morocco’s, Tarik Boukhris.

We had an interesting debate talking innovation and, of course, the current circular economy package under discussion in the European Parliament.

With key leaders from the industry attending it was a real opportunity to spread the message that steel is the ideal material for a circular economy.

I was also happy to discuss the growing impact of permanent materials status and mention some of APEAL’s ongoing initiatives, such as the 30th anniversary celebrations.

Indeed, I want to thank everyone for their great support of our “30 days, 30 facts” twitter campaign.

If you didn’t catch it, the campaign set out 30 facts about steel for packaging over the 30 days of April, APEAL’s birthday month (APEAL was founded 1st April 1986.)

All the steel for packaging facts are posted on our Twitter page, #APEAL_EU www.twitter.com/APEAL_EU and have been widely shared, helping us to spread the word about the benefits of steel for packaging even further.

Later this year we’ll be continuing our birthday celebrations by publishing a series of reports from key industry experts, looking at the future of steel for packaging and predicting the trends ahead.

I do hope you will find this as interesting an engaging as the Twitter campaign.

Have a fantastic May.
