Reducing CO2 emissions? … don’t forget recycling.

APEAL delivered a presentation during the ‘Packaging in a low carbon economy’ conference, organised by Edge, on 30th September 2008 in Birmingham.
The recycling of 2.5 million tons of steel packaging in 2006 in Europe has prevented nearly 5 million tons of CO₂ from being released into the atmosphere. A considerable benefit every stakeholder can benefit from, provided that the carbon footprint calculation, basis for future communication to consumers, takes into account 100% of the credit generated by the recycling of steel packaging.
