#24.03.2020 Packaging needs to be recognised by EU and national governments as an essential part of the continued flow of goods during the COVID-19 pandemic

Packaging and its raw materials, such as steel, are essential for the continued flow of goods (particularly food, hygiene products and medicines) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

APEAL supports the calls, from Europen  (The European Association of Packaging and the Environment) for the European Commission to open the designated priority lanes (“green lanes”) for the intra-EU transport of packaging and materials, in order to guarantee the uninterrupted circulation of critical health-related and perishable goods.

Our members remain committed to providing high quality packaging in a wide range of sizes suitable for affordable, healthy and nutritious foods as well as many other everyday products.
