ONE FOR THE ROAD… A “RECYCLES FOREVER” BIKE AT MEP AWARDS 2020

#22.12.2020 ONE FOR THE ROAD… A “RECYCLES FOREVER” BIKE AT MEP AWARDS 2020

There were many deserving winners at the Parliament Magazine’s December MEP Awards 2020 virtual ceremony, hosted by Eva Maydell MEP and editor Brian Johnson, where Alexis Van Maercke awarded the Environment award to Bas Eickhout MEP.

But there was one more winner, Peter Stevens, who recently picked up his  #metalrecyclesforever bike from our Sec Gen Alexis Van Maercke outside the APEAL offices in Brussels.

Such bicycles have been central to recent “I recycle Metal” campaigns in the Netherlands,  Flemish-speaking Belgium and Germany.

After correctly answering that 82.5% of steel packaging is recycled in Europe, Peter was entered into a lottery to win the bike.

Steel recycles over and over again, and all recycled steel packaging is used to manufacture new steel products – such as this bike – saving emissions, resource and energy use.

Our thanks to SKB for generously donating the bicycle.

Safe cycling in Brussels, Peter!
