More taste, less waste
Steel packaging’s naturally protective performance against light, water and air is 100% absolute. No other packaging material equals steel’s strength and total barrier properties, meaning that products packaged in steel retain their flavour while being less likely to be damaged, spoiled, or unnecessarily wasted.
According to a recent study in the UK, households throw away around one third of the food they buy. Of that, 61% or 4.1 million tonnes a year, was avoidable. The most common reason for 2.5 million tonnes of food being wasted is that it’s left unused. Of this, 40% – almost one million tonnes – isn’t even touched. We also cook and prepare too much, resulting in an additional 1.6 million tonnes of food waste a year.
Steel packaging’s unique preservation qualities play an important part in preventing food waste by ensuring that food stays fresh for longer. In addition, portion sized packaging helps to minimise waste.
