The International Steel Packaging Congress 1999

An important milestone in the process of shaping the future for Steel for Packaging in Europe

More than 450 participants registered for the 2nd International Steel Packaging Congress, held on 6th May 1999 during Interpack in Düsseldorf.
Traditionally focused on technical issues, the organisers wanted to give this year’s Congress a more marketing orientated approach. Indeed, all the actors of the packaging chain: packaging designers, brand marketers, packaging manufacturers, steel producers and equipment makers responded to the invitation to a Congress set under the banner of “Steel for Packaging, a Great Marketing Idea” .
The Congress was the event APEAL had chosen to present the results of a pan-European dialogue programme to promote the potential of steel as a packaging material and to foster innovation in steel in the various market segments.

Indeed, through APEAL, their European Association, the main Producers of Steel for Packaging decided in 1997 to launch an extensive programme of action and information aimed at key players of the packaging chain. More than 500 marketing and packaging decision-makers from major brands across Europe registered for this international information programme.
