APEAL EUROPEAN SCHOOLS AWARD
 

Launched on 1st September 1998, the APEAL European School Award invited secondary schools throughout Europe to explore the field of information technology and the environment by creating an Internet web site on the theme : " Steel packaging recycling and the use of steel as a packaging material". More than 100 schools registered throughout Europe and the best sites were selected to compete for the European final. At the 2nd International Steel Packaging Congress in Düsseldorf (6th May 1999), the European winners received their awards from John Nutting, Editor of "The Canmaker" magazine and Yves-Henri Nouailhat, President of the European Association of Teachers.


The overall European winner is Collège Edouard Herriot (France).

The European Association of Teachers (AEDE) commented : "We were delighted to participate in the contest organised by APEAL which seemed to us a very valuable educational project. The protection of the environment is a major issue for young European citizens".
