New applications A chocolate treat in a 2 piece beverage can : Ovidias chooses the quality of steel for its premium quality chocolates Ovidias, the world renowned name for fine Belgian chocolates, is offering a complete range of fresh chocolates in attractive 33cl steel cans. Using hermetically sealed cans, Ovidias has the capacity to distribute fresh Belgian chocolates through new channels, such as vending machines for chilled beverages, service stations, leisure centres, community centres, chilled counters in traditional shops, stations and airports, or any outlet where a temperature of +7°C is strictly maintained. The key to this new opportunity was to find a packaging medium which would protect the contents from humidity and condensation and avoid white bloom on the chocolates. Conventional carton boxes not only have a poor barrier to humidity but under certain conditions can affect the taste of the chocolates. The inert surface of the steel can protects the contents from deterioration and damage during transportation. The new marketing slogan «always fresh, at any time, at any place», combined with this original packaging concept, will certainly appeal to customers ensuring success in these previously unexplored distribution outlets.
