| READY FOR THE CHALLENGES AHEAD |
APEAL - the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging – is today a federation of four multinational producers of steel for packaging in Europe, representing some 92% of the total European production of steel for packaging.
Five million tons of steel for packaging are produced each year by approximately 15,000 people in 9 countries. More than half this production is used in the food and drinks industries, but the applications of steel for packaging are vast, covering virtually the entire field of industrial and consumer products.

| APEAL IS THE UNITED VOICE OF STEEL FOR PACKAGING |
| |
| APEAL's principal objective is to promote the marketing, technical, environmental and economic benefits of steel for packaging with one voice at European level.
| SHAPING THE FUTURE OF PACKAGING |
Steel offers the solutions today's marketers need, as the packaging material with a wide combination of advantages.
Its shaping characteristics and design potential are constantly being developed.
Its durability is second-to-none. It is the naturally recyclable choice, satisfying the demands both of the consumer and of ever-tightening environmental legislation.
And thanks to major ongoing research and development, the performance of steel packaging is constantly being improved. |
| OUR OBJECTIVES |
Faced with the combined challenges of an ever-growing demand for information, globalisation of the market-place (with decision makers becoming increasingly concentrated at an international level) and increased environmental awareness, the European producers of steel for packaging have together assigned Apeal two new objectives :
-To promote the potential of steel for packaging, with one voice, throughout Europe
-To harmonise communication of member companies at international level
